The Wright Stuff: Girls Shine in Exclusive Chat
In March 2019, Barclays announced the largest-ever investment in UK women’s sport by a brand.
As part of this commitment with The FA, they have supported the Barclays Girls’ Football School Partnerships – a nationwide network designed to ensure girls have equal access to football in schools. Their ambition was to ensure that by 2028, 90% of schools in England (Key Stage 2 and 3) offered girls the same access to football in PE as boys. This milestone was achieved three years early – meaning 2.6 million girls now have equal access to football in PE.
To celebrate this achievement, Barclays Football Ambassadors Ian Wright and Kelly Smith – who have been part of this journey since 2019 – visited Anson and spoke with three of our football team. During a fun interview the girls covered a manner of topics including football, dreams and school work. This event marks a significant milestone in the journey of girls’ and women’s sport in England. We are proud of our part in this journey to ensure that girls at Anson feel able to express themselves fully on the sport field and beyond.
THIS SATURDAY: ANSON BIG DIG 3
This Saturday will see the third Big Dig event at Anson Primary School.
The event runs from 10am to 4pm and members of the school community (and beyond) are encouraged to come and support the development of the school site as we attempt to make it greener, sustainable and impactful for the future.
This weekend we will be planting donated trees, clearing weeds and overgrown areas, building compost zones and getting creative with pallets.
Whole families are welcome to attend but all children will be the responsibility of their parents.
Come for the whole day, half a day, an hour or ten minutes to deliver food. Everyone has a part to play.
FLU
On Thursday 27th November the team of Brent Nurses will be back at Anson to complete the flu vaccination programme.
If your child was absent during the first visit (and has consent) they will be given the vaccine on the 27th along with any other new children who have also been given consent. Please do not contact the school office as the nurses deal with all the admin for the vaccinations.
ROBLOX SAFETY NEWS
This week the people running the video game Roblox announced a major new safety initiative to better protect its youngest users.
From early next year, players will be required to complete an age-estimation check before using private chat. This system, powered by AI, analyses a selfie video to estimate a user’s age - but, importantly, does not store the images long-term.
Based on the estimated age, users are sorted into six age brackets (for example: under 9; 9–12; 13–15), and chat access is limited so that young children can only communicate with peers in the same or similar age groups.
Roblox says this move will help reduce the risk of adult strangers contacting or grooming children.
The rollout begins in December 2025 in Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands, before expanding globally in January 2026.
